FLSA Status: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $19.25-$21.20 per hour
Reports to: Childcare Director
POSITION SUMMARY
The Childcare Coordinator – School Age Programs is responsible for the overall planning, delivery, and quality of the YMCA’s DCFS licensed exempt Before and After School Care and Day Camp programs (Grades K–8). The Coordinator leads site-level operations, supports and supervises part-time staff, and ensures safe, enriching, and mission-aligned experiences for all participants. This role serves as a key partner to the Childcare Director in driving quality, growth, and community trust in out-of-school-time programming.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Lead daily operations for all Before & After School and Camp programs, including scheduling, supply management, and site readiness.
· Hire, train, schedule, and coach part-time staff across multiple program locations.
· Ensure compliance with DCFS, YMCA, and school district licensing and safety standards.
· Design and support implementation of age-appropriate curriculum and enrichment activities.
· Foster a positive, inclusive environment for children and staff, promoting YMCA values.
· Monitor participant attendance, staff ratios, and site safety conditions.
· Communicate regularly with families to share updates, resolve concerns, and encourage feedback.
· Coordinate transportation and logistics for field trips and special events.
· Collaborate with school partners to ensure smooth site integration and address shared concerns.
· Assist the Director in program evaluation, grant tracking, and improvement initiatives.
· Support association-wide events and youth-focused community engagement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in education, recreation, or related field preferred.
· 2+ years’ experience in youth programming and staff supervision; camp or OST experience ideal.
· Familiarity with DCFS license exempt standards or willingness to learn.
· Current CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or obtained within 30 days).
· Must be able to pass background check and meet DCFS employment standards.
· Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
· Must be able to travel between program sites and occasionally work evenings/weekends.
Performance Indicators
· Maintain 85%+ average site enrollment and grow participation by at least 5% annually.
· Ensure 100% staff training completion and 90%+ staff retention across program sites.
· Host 3+ family events per year and maintain 90%+ parent satisfaction.
· Build or sustain partnerships with at least 3 schools or community organizations annually.
